Roberts Vaux Grammar School,
Wood St. ab. 11th St.
Philad., Sep. 11, 1877
J. E. Douglass, Esq.
My Dear Sir,
Miss Sarah A. Jason, a graduate of my school is an applicant for a position to teach in your county. I have great pleasure in commending her to your favorable notice, knowing as I do that she is well qualified to teach. I have no doubt whatever of her ability to pass the required examination, and in the event of her acceptance, I am sure you will get an earnest and devoted teacher.
Very truly yours, J.C. White.
In his capacity as Principal of the Roberts Vaux School, Jacob C. White, Jr. continued the Institute's legacy of training African American teachers. This letter of recommendation from White notes that Ms. Sarah A. Jasen, one of White's students, was properly qualified to teach.
