Michael Garbark was offered athletic scholarships to both Princeton and Villanova but decided to go to Villanova in 1934. He played baseball and football while at Villanova. After Villanova he signed on with the New York Yankees. He toured the minor league ranks from 1938-1943 before making the jump to the majors in the 1944 season. Garbark finished out his career as a minor league coach (1948-1953) after an injury ended his chances of playing in the pros. (Summary from Connolly, Michael P. The Wildcats: A History of Villanovans in Professional Sports, 2005, p.40-41.)
