Westmeath Hounds

A Sporting Tour Through Ireland, England, Wales and France in the years 1912-1913, 1925, selection from p. 17, Smith, Harry Worcester, published by The State Company: Columbia, SC, USA

Joint-Master Harry Worcester Smith of the Westmeath Foxhound Kennels came to Ireland from the United States. Among other novelties, he brought with him a pack of American hounds, the Grafton Hounds. This photograph of the hunting entourage includes a caption separating the hounds, the master, the servants, and the horses into their own category of acknowledgement. While the animals may be considered in service of the master, each group fulfills different roles in the hunt, each significant enough to be distinctly recognized.
